From what I saw the New Hartford Fire Dept. was highly professional durring the whole incident. Why would anyone want to start false rumors to tarnish that organization! Typical Central New York someone gets bored and has to start trouble with people who are just trying to do some good!

As an EMT and a wife to a vol. fireman, these men and women risk their lives to help others. Fires are my biggest fear and who cares if they have some shirts and beer for their efforts they deserve it. The Matts are gen. people and would have openly offered these things to them.

Yes thank to the volunteer firemen rom New Hartford who helped themselves to goods (shirts and drinks) from the brewery while they were fighting the fire. Even so much that their chief is calling them into the police station to investigate.

My husband has worked for the brewery for 18 years. The brewery has been the reason we have stayed in area. They have been good to our family. On Friday morning, we worried it would be the end of the brewery but thank God they have decided to tough it out and be committed to central NY. In the days of companies not thinking twice to move down south, its a breath of fresh air to see a company be committed to staying in the Mohawk Valley.

Frankfort Anon, I thought the exact same thing! No, Dave, FX Matt will allow people to come in with buckets, and they're also going to start sending beer in Solo cups to the retail stores. The fire won't cause daily operations to miss a beat. Come on, guy. I understand that you have a responsibility to keep the interview going, and to prevent dead air, but come on... Think a bit... I will say, however, that I LOL'd.

Dave from WKTV - you need to review your tapes of those on the spot interviews "Is your business going to be affected by this?" LOOK AT THE FLAMES MAN! OF COURSE IT'S GOING TO BE AFFECTED!

I don't agree with Andrew's comment that this is "another business gone for good." With the support of the community, FX Matt will rebuild.

Google a Material Data Safety Sheet of Ammonia. It is only slightly flammable and requires extremely high temperature (over 1500 degrees) to become explosive Was an explosion impossible at the brewery? Nothing is impossible I guess, but it seems very unlikely. Were ammonia vapors a serious hazard in the area of the fire? Again very unlikely. The top officers of the Utica Fire Department should know their jobs better, or are they just trying to scare the public and get abigger budget?

The brewery WILL come back and thrive, it is a historical site and the community WILL do everything they can to preserve and support the brewery.

Thank you to the surrounding area fire departments for assisting with this fire. I know it is bad, but it could have ALWAYS been worse. Thank you so much. Without you there could have been casualties. I've never seen Fred Matt before but was impressed with his quiet demeanor in his dark hour. He vowed to rebuild, and I believe he will. Hopefully it will be in the same location and not on the outside of Utica towards Schuyler. Thanks to all the firefighters you guys/gals are Godsends!!!!!
