West Utica bars go exclusively Saranac for Thursday's event

By PAT BAILEY

UTICA - Following the fire that devastated part of the F.X. Matt Brewing Facility, the entire community came together to help the Matt Family in anyway possible. That support will not stop.

The bars on Varick Street look forward to the overspill of people after Saranac Thursday events wrap up. For their appreciation and in honor of the brewery, a few bars will be showcasing and only serving Matt Brewery products.

Early on Thursday, O'Donnell's Bar just down the street from the brewery was preparing for the first post-Saranac Thursday of the year. They have several Matt products on tap, and will also be serving Utica Club in cans. They were all also at a discounted rate.

Just across the street, the newly opened Nail-Creek Bar will be doing the same. They will feature several Saranac products on tap, including Utica Club. Bars owners say featuring the beer, of the brewery, that feed their business for one night, is no problem.

Also showcasing Saranac products was The Electric Company, also located on Varick Street. Their window is decorated with UC shirts, hats and memorabilia. Again, most of the bar owners on Varick Street credit their better than regular business on a Thursday night to the Saranac event.
