Utica firefighters are investigating the cause of a fire that broke out just after 6:30 Sunday evening forcing the evacuation of the 17 story Kennedy Plaza Apartment

The fire originated in apartment on the 11th floor of the high rise. Firefighters made quick work of the flames, containing the fire to one apartment, though firefighters say it is a complete loss. No other rooms have been effected.

One person suffered smoke inhalation and were treated at the scene. The Assistant Fire Chief says the hardest part about this fire was making sure everyone was out of the building.

Im a resident of Kennedy Plaza and feel that the Fire Department as well as residents at KP dont take fire alarms at KP Serious because a lot of the times it is a false alarm due to someone pulling it or someone leaves something on the stove and it burns. I feel that if the Fire Department did a mandatory Fire Prevention at KP it would help the residents realize the dangers of Fires~ I think that the Management and Fire Department Handled this Fire Very Well
