VERONA - Three people have been arrested and charged after attempts to allegedly engage in prostitution activities at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino.
Ross D. Calarco, 26, Amy M. Welcher, 23, and Jennifer M. Marji, 25, all of Syracuse, have been charged after authorities say Calarco was running a prostitution business out of Syracuse, and had recently been leaving business cards at the casino rest rooms.
Upon Oneida Indian Nation Police learning of the activity, they initiated a three-month investigation, contacting the Oneida County Sheriff's Office and together the agencies put together an undercover investigation into Calarco's illegal activity.
On the night of June 10, the Oneida Indian Nation met with undercover Sheriff's investigators who posed as clients looking for prostitution services. Sheriff's investigators then arranged a meeting with Calarco and two of his women at the hotel room.
Sheriff's investigators say that upon the arrival, Calarco and the two females made an agreement for services and an exchange of money took place in the hotel room.
Shortly after, Calarco, Welcher, and Marji were taken in custody without incident.
Calarco has been charged with promoting prostitution, while Welcher and Marji have been charged with prostitution.
Calarco was arraigned in the Town of Verona Court and remanded to the Oneida County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail.
Welcher and Marki were both issued appearance tickets returnable in the Town of Verona Court.
