NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - The area's largest blood drive will take place Wednesday at the Clinton Road Baptist Church. The Utica Chapter of the American Red Cross is asking you to lend a hand by donating blood in order to potentially save a life in this "Community That Cares Blood Drive."
The red cross has set a goal of 150 units of blood from this drive alone. So far, 100 people have committed to give blood at the drive but there is still room for many more. Organizers say to be ready if you make an appointment.
Andria DeLisle Heath of the Utica Red Cross gives advice to people preparing to give blood, "Please drink plenty of water eat green leafy vegetables and red meat, raisins because you have to prepare your body to lose that unit." You also are required to follow the eligability requirement guidelines.
