2012 Pink Ribbon Classic held in Whitesboro to help battle breast cancer

By JOLEEN FERRIS

WHITESBORO, N.Y. (WKTV) - Heavy skies and a good, soaking rain were not enough to stop area golfers from raising money for a good cause in their own community on Friday.

The 2012 Pink Ribbon Classic teed off Friday afternoon at Hidden Valley Golf and Country Club in Whitesboro.

Roser Communications was the major sponsor of the event, which raises funds to help fight breast cancer in Central New York and they say they couldn't think of a better reason to bring local people together in the spirit of corporate giving.

"Breast cancer can affect anybody," said Grant Roser of Roser Communications. "Cancer, in general, can affect anybody and it's just a great cause and we feel that anything we can do to make a difference."

Roughly 15 teams played 18 holes and the money raised goes to the American Cancer Society's "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer."
