SUNYIT's new president begins tenure

By EVAN WHITE

MARCY - SUNYIT's 6th president began his tenure on the job Tuesday morning. Dr. Wolf Yeigh comes to Central New York from Norwich University in Vermont where he had served as an administrator.

Yeigh is working with staff to get up to speed with campus needs in a school that has changed from a two-year college to four-year school and an increasing enrollment to a 25 year high in the 2007-2008 school year.

There are many plans that Yeigh can look forward to early in his tenure at SUNYIT including a $13 million student center, a $20 million field house, and a $27.5 million technology center. In addition to these projects, plans to develop a site on Edic Road for a private semi-conductor plant are in motion.

While Yeigh has not defined his goals or plan of action for SUNYIT, he is already looking East to enrich the school's semi-conductor technology options. Yeigh went onto say he would like to partner with Albany Nano-tech from both an academic stand-point and an industrial side in order to further opportunities for SUNYIT in that industry.
