Utica woman pleads not guilty in manslaughter case

BY GRANT DeBRUIN

UTICA - A Utica woman pleaded not guilty to second degree manslaughter in Oneida County court Wednesday regarding the death of a Utica man in September.

Jodi Marris is accused of being under the influence of drugs when she allegedly struck and killed 48 year-old Peter Zacek while he was riding his bike on Route 12 in Deerfield.

The Oneida County District Attorney's Office has extended a plea offer to Marris; she's due back in court on July 16 to let the judge know if she wants to take the plea offer or go to trial.

Marris is currently free on bail.

If you knew her blah blah blah. Yes the same old song and dance. News flash, the odds on the first time someone drove impaired that they would get into an accident or get caught are slim to almost nil. That means this is not the first time she has driven in this condition. Everytime you read about a DWI accident or arrest, hands down guaranteed it is not the first time they have driven in those conditions. Good people are those who learn from a bad decision not continue to make the same ones

She is actually a really good person and would never intentionally hurt anyone. When you look at all the DWI's in the area it could have happened to any of them to. Everyone makes bad decisions in life they just dont have such a terrible outcome from them.

the real scumbag is the attorney who will negotiate a too sweet plea deal for her. A deal that he will be paid handsomely for. If there is any justice left in this world, there will be no such deal and the case will go to trial. Her statements alone admitting to knowing she was swerving is enough to convict her. And unlike the news the other day where a criminally negligent homicide case only netted a 6 month sentence, this one needs to be for years, 10 years.

She was like this in high school. Always smoking and sniffing drugs. She hasn't learned and still is a low life today. Send her away for along time. No excuses she killed someone!!!!!

Taking pills and smoking pot, then drives a car while waiting for her b/f to get out of jail. Scumbag, I hope she goes away for a long time. Better yet I hope I get selected for her jury trial.
