It's going down as the worst snowstorm in New York City's recorded history, and it wasn't just New York, Boston got pounded too. Fortunately, the brunt of the storm just missed us, making way for near perfect conditions for an annual event along Utica’s Parkway today.

The Utica Zoo's Snowfari went off without a hitch. Snowshoeing, snowboarding, and sled racing were all part of the Snowfari at the Val Bialas Ski Chalet.

Kermit Cadrette came out for competition this morning, sprinting in snowshoes.

Jesse Dewey is here to see how much air he could ride, much like Winter Olympian Shaun White. ”Well, I've just always liked him, because he has hair.” Says Dewey.

Some people came out to the Snowfari today for the competition. Others just came out to have a good time.

According to Renee English of New Hartford, “It's a good cause, and our kids love to be in the snow. And our two-year-old son is into watching the snowboards on TV, so he enjoyed watching the jumps.”

And everyone we talked to today says they miss the traditional central New York winter. “We haven't really had the best winter, but now that we do, it's not too cold out, there's a little bit of snow, and it's good to get out when you can.” Says English.

According to Kermit Cadrett of Rome: “When I started running marathons, I didn't want to be injured, so I didn't want to see snow anymore. Now I pray for snow again.”
