Residents at Kennedy Plaza Apartments want city's help for change

UTICA - Residents at the Kennedy Plaza Apartment complex want city assistance, because they say the building's management isn't doing enough to keep them safe.

They presented a petition to Public Safety Officials Thursday night of all the people who want something done.

Among their complaints - lack of security. They say there needs to be more security cameras and doors that lock properly.

Public safety officials believe this meeting can change all that.

"Anytime you have the volume of residents coming, bonding together, they are the eyes and ears...and that's a strong indication that they don't like what they see and they want to change it," said Robert Palmieri with the city's Utica Public Safety Department. "And this group is going to change it. There's no question that they will change it."

City officials plan to meet with the building's owners next week to discuss the concerns of the apartment residents.
