Students and parents take part in SUNYIT orientation

WKTV News

MARCY -  This year, freshmen orientation at SUNYIT is not just about making the transition to college a smooth one for students but for the new president as well.

Orientation is happening Thursday and Friday. Earlier on Thursday, students took their required placement tests while their parents got a crash course in how their children will adjust to college life. The new President says for many students, college life can not start soon enough.

"They'll probably be looking to explore their newly found freedom and I'm sure they're already making connections, making friends and same for the parents too," SUNYIT President Dr. Bjong Wolf Yeigh said.

Nearly 200 freshman and their families took part in the orientation session.
