New Hospice camp helps kids cope with the loss of a loved one

WKTV News

UTICA - Losing a loved one can be tough for anyone to deal with but what about children? Hospice took strides to address that issue on Thursday during its "What About Me," or "W.A.M." camp.

The camp is designed for children dealing with the loss of family members and friends. There was plenty of fun and games, but serious matters were also talked about among counselors and kids.

"A lot of times parents don't recognize how much children don't know of the death event or the situation that happened and so a lot of emphasis isn't put on the grieving child," says bereavement counselor Bill Mullin.

Organizers feel the one day camp went well and hope to hold another one next year.
