Gas prices on the rise

By Jerry Walsh

If you have filled your gas tank up lately you know the price of gas is on the rise. At one station in North Utica the cost of a gallon of gas increased by 7 cents yesterday alone. Customers of that same station have watch the price climb 31 cents in the last month.

Part of the problem has to do with the type of gasoline refineries are making. They have already started to make their summer blend which costs more to produce.

Right now, AAA says the average cost for a gallon of gasoline in the Utica-Rome area is $2.70. Just last year drivers were paying $2.35.

We will have more on the increase in gas prices tonight on the NewsChannel 2 Live at Five Newshour.
