ELBRIDGE (AP) - A 27-year-old upstate New York man accused
of killing his parents has been ordered to undergo a mental exam as
the couple is being buried in their hometown.

While calling hours were being held for 54-year-old Joseph Bisesi and his 53-year-old wife Jo-Ellen, a judge on Monday ordered Joseph Bisesi III examined to determine whether he's competent to stand trial for the murders.

Police charged Bisesi with first-degree murder, saying he shot his parents and tried to hide their bodies in a septic tank at their home 20 miles west of Syracuse. A relative found the father's torso stuck in the tank's standpipe - his arms and legs cut off so the body would fit in the hole.

Bisesi pleaded not guilty. The case is headed to a grand jury. Police have not disclosed a motive.
