Woman charged with Court Street fire offered plea deal

UTICA - The woman accused of intentionally setting a fire on Court Street on July 4 has been made a plea offer.

Prosecutors say the incident on July 4th began as some sort of domestic dispute and ended with 19 year-old Ambur Dawn Fortney allegedly starting a fire on the porch of 1122 Court Street in Utica.

That fire was one of a cluster of four Utica fires that broke out within an hour of each other around midnight fourth of July into the fifth.

Fortney will be back on August 21st to either reject or accept that offer.

I talked to her for a while one day. She was actually a pretty nice person. She's obviously scattered and confused, but aren't we all in one area or another? But we sure do love pointing fingers at the obvious ones...

The correct punishment would be to make this low-life work untill materials are paid for, have supervisors at the sight and make her and only her rebuild the house.

Plea deals save the taxpayers money, you idiots. That is the main reason for a plea bargain. To spare the taxpayers and courts the cost of a trial. Another good job by our DA.
