WKTV to offer High Definition programming; signal unavailable to Time Warner customers until determined acceptable
On Friday, August 8th, WKTV NewsChannel 2 will begin offering its Central New York viewers High Definition television programming over the air. The station recently completed a significant upgrade to its master control that permits WKTV to transmit HD programming from NBC. Unfortunately at this time, viewers who watch WKTV via Time Warner Cable will not be able to watch HD programming until Time Warner tests the signal and determines it is acceptable to add to its digital service. My parents have cable vision and they have had NBC in HD ever since they got their HDTV in 2005. Always watched Heroes in HD and that began in 2006. ARE YOU FROM THE PAST? Inappropriate? What about the Dolby Digital? Is that still an issue? I would imagine that TW would run a direct fiber link from the studio to avoid the OTA problems. No one seems to give a straight answer. All TW says is that WKTV wants money and to call to call them. Meanwhile, WKTV claims it's providing the signal to TW and they refuse to add it so call them! What gives? Inappropriate? I have been enjoying the Olympics in crystal clear 1080i. Maybe you need a better antenna? Inappropriate? The signal looked a little sketchy around 8PM but later in the evening it looked fine. I do note that it is 1080i and the best I can get out of WFXV is 720p. Thanks for the good resolution. I hope you will plan better when the tim comes to switch to 3DTV! Inappropriate? Alert Us!Sunday, Aug 10 at 11:22 AM DearGeorge? wrote ...I'm asking George how has WKTV taken any money from viewers? Since I last checked WKTV has never taken ANY money from viewers. Now if you pay Time Warner cable then thats your problem. WKTV sends out its signal for free. Analog or Digital. Thanks! Both T-W and DirecTV are cutting their bandwidth to fit more signals in, and not sending full resolution HD. Inappropriate?
