Oriskany Falls man dead after motorcycle-car accident in Kirkland
CLINTON - An Oriskany Falls man is dead after a motorcycle-car crash in the Town of Kirkland. Police say Joseph Brady, 44, died from extensive internal injuries to his back and neck after a car turned right into his path. At 8:36 p.m. on Monday night, the report came in of a serious personal injury accident involving both a car and a motor cycle at the intersection of State Route 12B and Dugway Road in the Town of Kirkland. The Kirkland Police responded to the scene with members of the Clinton Fire Department Rescue and Central Oneida County Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Clinton Fire examined and prepared the passengers of both the Honda car and the motorcycle for transport to St. Elizabeth Medical Center. A preliminary report from police of the crash shows that the motorcycle operated by Brady was headed northbound on State Route 12B following behind another passenger car. The Honda Pilot was headed southbound on State Route 12B and was approaching the intersection of Dugway Road to make a left turn. The operator of the Honda - Andrea M. Florentino, 36, of Deansboro, waited for the northbound car to pass and began to turn left, not seeing the motorcycle, and turned into its path, striking it in the northbound lane. Florentino sustained minor injuries form the air bag deployment. Her 4-year old child in back seat was not inured; both Florentino and her daughter was sent to St. Elizabeth Medical Center, treated, and released. The motorcycle operator - Joseph Brady - was transported to St. Elizabeth Medical Center with extensive internal injuries to his back and neck. He died from those sustained injuries at 11 p.m. Kirkland Police and Oneida County Police remained at the scene of the crash well after midnight reconstructing the crash site. The Kirkland Police are asking anyone with information on the vehicle which was operating ahead of the motorcycle to call the Kirkland Police Department at 853-2924 to speak with Officer Gene Sinardo Jr. or Officer Wayne Smoulcey. The accident is still under investigation. The following comments do not necessarily represent the views of NBC-WKTV News Channel 2. Bottomline, many motorists are not paying attention/preoccupied and not willing to take an extra 2-3 seconds to make sure that traffic is clear and safe. We work, travel and farm in that area and have a near altercation weekly. Its amazing the chances that motorists take with farm equipment. Despite the SMV signs, flashers, turn signals and the mere size of modern farm equipment, it does not hinder motorists actions and decisions Flag for moderationWednesday, Aug 20 at 8:56 AM RE:re: It sounds as if... wrote wrote ...I live near that area and Heard the crash.
