NEWSChannel 2's Kristin Lowman learned about volunteer opportunities at St.Elizabeth Medical Center from Patrick Buckley, Human Resources Director.

St. Elizabeth's has close to 200 volunteers and is always looking for more. No medical background is necessary to volunteer at the hospital.

An unusual example is the group that makes heart pillows for heart bypass patients. They make 40 pillows in 2 hours and meet every 2 weeks.

There are placements in processing and delivering mail, assisting patients with reading, and greetings or directions for families and patients.

St. Elizabeth's is currently in need of volunteers for the gift shop, public relations dept., lab, and pharmacy, among others. They will need many more the emergency department is expanded to almost double its size.

Any amount of time you can give is appreciated. Even though they have 2000 employees, the medical center relies on volunteers to support its employees.

The Medical center is always looking for up-beat, fun people who want to "Catch the Spirit"!
