Police say car in deadly accident should not have been on the road

WKTV News

FRANKFORT - Frankfort Police say the car involved in last weekend's accident that killed two Utica teens should never had been on the road.

They say the car wasn't insured or registered, had a fake inspection sticker and its license plate belongs to a man in North Carolina, whom they are trying to notify.

Police say the investigation continues but they feel speed was the major cause of the deadly accident.

A car shouldn't be on the Road,,,Yes, blame the car.. These 2 didn't have their license to drive, and do not blame the parents of their rebelling.. Teens are the parent and the parents are the teens.. We need to take control of our children and not our qovernment

I can't believe most of these comments. Who gave anyone the right to judge?! Look at yourself and be your own judge. I don't think what happened had anything to do with the parents. Parents can only do so much. They can do everything that's in their power but the boys decision was their own. Not saying what they did was right but I dont think that if either one of them had a license or the car was registered or not or insured and all the other things, that that could have prevented everything...

The saddest part of all of this is that this isn't where it ends. There will be others that continue to do the same thing. The cops and schools need to crack down on the salvage cars the kids drive. The schools need to check out the car's paperwork and the kids license before he can use the parking lot at Proctor. They hired cops over there and this should be part of the routine. Regular traffic stops of the kids that drive up and down Hilton would probably have a high yield of unlicensed kids

Remember this - America was founded by immigrants and each of us not born to a Native American tribe indigenous to this country is indeed, the son or daughter of an immigrant. Wow. They were 17. The driver made a fatal choice as many young people of all nationalities do every day. Remember the 5 cheerleeders killed, speeding and text messaging? No excuses, but a bit of grace. I could have been killed several times at that age. It's a foolish age - or can be. A great kid (in 99 ways) can be a stupid kid in 1 way, and it can cost him (and yes, others) their lives. I'd like to focus on how they were great kids. Deepest condolences to the families.

Ignorance is bliss. Does anyone realize the BMW was a 1998? It's not like they were driving around in a 2008. The car is 10 yrs old. It's not that expensive. Maybe he got it for a graduation present. You people that make ignorant comments on here are low lives who think their lives are perfect but hide behind a computer. Most are racist and prejudicehave have problems in their own homes. It could have been anyone. Stop all this hate on each other, that is why the world is the way it is now. RIP

Some people seem to feel that laws don't apply to them--and the longer they get away with avoiding & evading rules, regulations, and laws, the bolder they become. These young men must have felt that way--AMERICA--land of the free--but there is a law above man's--and His rule's are NOT so easily broken. And then there is one of the rules of nature---drive an unsafe, unispected car,go 90 MPH--hit tree.........now there is another law that cannot be broken.

What do you expect people to think when they read the facts. Regardless if they were taking the car out for one last spin, it was done VERY illegally. You sound as though you hate Americans, then why are you here. BTW not all of us are drunks/druggies, some actually are here because we were born here & are proud to live here, some even obey the laws & work hard for what we have. sorry about your friends but lets be realistic here. May God be with the families.

Regardless if it is a BMW or a Yugo, any parent should be aware enough to know that their kids are driving illegally. Keep in mind that even if these KIDS played by the rules and were licensed, registered and insured, would the outcome have been any different? Final note, WKTV should be ashamed to post some of these tasteless comments on here. I’ve attempted to post comments before that were no where near as bad as some of these and they never made it online. Will this one make it

I can't believe how some people are rationalizing the actions of these two boys. An illegal car, is an illegal car. Does it make you feel better to justify that they were taking it for "one last ride"-Please! I understand that they families must be hurting, but your responsible for your children until age 21. Anything my daughter did up to that age, I was responsible for. The family needs to take responsibility for this, and the people who had this party. Thank God no one innocent was hurt!

This is pattern, and in America we can voice our opinion as long as it is within the scope of the law. Where as your post is threatening in nature and hating. If your so unhappy in this country go back to Bosnia. Believe me, I can afford a BMW if I wanted to foolishly spend my $ on that type of thing. BMW's are only important to those who, feel they have to prove something, esp. 17 y.o.'s. I'd rather keep my $ in the bank, and spend it on something important like driving lessons for my teen!

First of all this was a tragedy, so don't get me wrong. My heart goes out to the family of these young men. This is my concern. In the past 3 weeks there has been 3 motor vehicle fatalities involving young Bosian men driving BMW's. Perhaps the young men should go back to fundamentals, yes it is good to work and acquire things, but BMW's or other materialistic things does not make a man. Obeying the laws of the land really makes a man, in which none of these 3 kids did!
