Biden is Obama's Vice-Presidential Choice, appear together at rally in Illinois

By ANDREW DONOVAN

WASHINGTON (WKTV) - Senator Joseph Biden of Delaware is Barack Obama's choice to be his vice-presidential running mate. He is a veteran of more than 30 years in the United States Senate at the age of 65.

The two first appeared together in a rally on Saturday at the Old State Capital in Springfield, Illinois. This is the same location where Obama announced his candidacy over one and a half years ago.

Biden is Congress' Foreign Relations Committee Chairman and is called a leading expert on foreign affairs. Both experience and foreign policy knowledge are what polls indicate Barack Obama needs help with against Republican opponent John McCain.

The Obama Campaign had intent to first officially announce the choice via text message sometime on Saturday.
