Two families homeless after early-morning Frankfort fire

WKTV News

FRANKFORT, N.Y. (WKTV) - Two families in the Town of Frankfort are homeless after a fire destroyed their two-family home.

Firefighters from four different departments spent much of the early morning hours bringing the blaze under control.

The fire broke out around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday morning at 4356 Acme Road, where upon arrival, firefighters found the structure fully engulfed by flames.

All six people living inside the residence got out safely, but two family pets were lost in the fire.

The Red Cross has been called in to assist the families, and the house is a complete loss.

No official word on how it started, but one of the residents think it might be electrical.

***UPDATE*** (August 28, 2008): Fire officials have confirmed that the cause of the fire was electrical. One person was treated at the scene and released.

I truelly wish that WKTV would get rid of this section, because the victoms of these stories hear all the dumb comments made by everyone. It is horrible to think that they don't have enough to worry about, now they have to defend themselves to all of us. What ever happened to the compassion? Have we all lost our minds? Please show a little discretion, be an adult.

First of all this was my family, my sisters'niece and nephews. They lost everything. George..it was not arson so don't look for wrongdoing just for the sake of gossip. My brother in law burnt his hands trying to save the house. Instead of harmful assumptions, try lending a family in need a hand. We are thankful they did not lose their lives. Chris, Melissa, Michelle, Jonathon, Tylor, Ryan, and Kayla, I love you all. my heart is with you even though I am far from home. commenters have heart.

No it wasn't arson it was electrical fire. It caught the couch on fire then eventually consumed the house. Yes they are insured.
