Intoxicated female arrested for breaking into home
NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. - On Thursday at approximately 6:30 a.m., the New Hartford Police responded to a call from a resident on Roberts Ave. in the Town of New Hartford. The resident reported an irate woman who was banging and kicking on the front door of the home and yelling that she wanted to come in. Prior to the arrival of the police, the woman went to the back of the home and used a chair to smash out a glass panel on a sliding door. The woman then entered the home and continued yelling and screaming. The occupants locked themselves in an upstairs bedroom until the police arrived. Upon arrival, the police located the irate woman lying in the broken glass from the sliding door. It was apparent she was highly intoxicated. She was identified as Areial M. Sturetavant, 24, of Utica. Sturetavant was taken into custody by Patrolman Michael Kowalski and charged with criminal trespass and criminal mischief. Sturetavant was treated for injuries to her hands and arms at St. Elizabeth Medical Center and released. She was arraigned in New Hartford Town Court and remanded to the Oneida County Jail in lieu of $1,000.00 bail. The occupants of the residence were not injured and were not familiar with Sturetavant.
