Man charged with fatal shooting on Saturday pleads not-guilty

By JOLEEN FERRIS

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - While authorities continue to search for the killer of James Johnson, of Utica, just a day earlier, Mark Dukett, of Camden, was shot and killed on Oneida Street in Utica on Saturday afternoon.

Police believe they have the man who killed Dukett - Omar Thompson - who was in Utica City Court Tuesday in order for a public defender to be assigned to represent him on murder, attempted murder, and robbery charges.

Thompson pleaded not-guilty at his arraignment over the weekend.

No bail was set for the murder charge, forcing Thompson to remain in jail, for now, as the case progresses.

He's due back in Utica City Court for a felony hearing on Thursday, September 4.
