NORWICH, N.Y. (AP) - The retrial of an upstate New York man charged with killing his wife in 2002 is being postponed for a week after a car crash involving the defendant's relatives.

Peter Wlasiuk was convicted in 2003 of killing his wife, Patricia, and staging it to look like she had crashed into a lake and drowned. Opening arguments were set for Thursday, but Wlasiuk's 65-year-old father and three of the defendant's daughters were in a car accident Wednesday. Police said their injuries were not life threatening.

The trial is now scheduled to begin Tuesday. Wlasiuk was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison, but the conviction was overturned in 2006.

Wlasiuk was scheduled to be tried again in May, but his lawyer wanted a new round of tests on Patricia Wlasiuk's blood.
