I really think that they need to higher the drinking age to 30 then by that time MAYBE they will be old enough and understand yes there is people who its older and still dont learn people who give beer to underage kids should go to prison for like 5 to 6 years to show them right from wrong this girl was lucky this time but what if for next time ?? She will tell everyone she wont do it again but come on we all know teens there will always be another time even if its 10 years down the road....

Can we assume that Jessie was a passenger in the car driven by Nicole? The article makes no reference to Jessie being removed from the car, seat belt, etc.

Nicole isn't a bad person, she just made a bad decision. Keeping the drinking age isn't going to stop teenagers from getting alcohol... no matter how long the drinking age is, kids are always going to get it if we want it. I hope Nicole is doing better, and I'm sure she was drinking with her friends. I know Nicole, I didn't think she was that stupid to get behind the wheel of a car after drinking... my prayers are with her.

Perfect example of why the drinking age should NOT!!! be lowered to 18 years old. Multiply this accident by a thousand if the drinking age gets lowered. This accident could have killed not only her, but other innocent people.

LOWER THE DRINKING AGE. IT'LL FILL THE JAILS FASTER. THEN WHEN AN 18 YEAR OLD GETS A DWI THEY CAN BE CHARGED AS AN ADULT

Grown folks smash their cars drunk too. The drinking age is not the factor, if she wanted to drink that bad she would have found alcohol. No BAC was posted in the story, so even one drink or less would have given her a BAC above the NYS zero tolerance for minors, and a DWI. There really isn't enough facts in this story to determine what the entire situaion was. Lowering the drinking age is a great idea irresposible, slightly educated, boundary pushing young adults with alcohol. Brilliant

when are these 18 year olds going to learn! Drinking and driving doesnt mix!!They say they are adults but they sure don't act like an resbonsible one! Anyone who calls themselfs a friend should have taken her keys away from her.You just don't see this happening to you but then every year you either read about someone you know or you yourself are involved. PLEASE KIDS, WEAK UP!!! Don't drink and drive!! I know it sounds stupid, but look at how many kids this is happening too! Please, wake up!!

You want to know why this girl was not supervised very closely, she is 18 and considered an adult. I remember when I turned 21 drinking wasn't exciting anymore, lower the drinking age to 18 (the age that someone can enlist in the military and die for there county) and maybe drinking won't be as exciting for teenagers.

WKTV - get your facts straight before you post! The accident occurred on River Street in Oriskany - NOT Whitestown. Also, Nicole was airlifted to University Hosp in Syracuse today where she was operated on and is still in serious condition - but improving.

From what I was told, Nicole was given the alcohol by an Uncle of the boy that was in the car with them. The boy was NOT drinking. I viewed the accident site today and it is a miracle that no one was killed due to the large tree that stopped the car when it went off the road. It appears the car went off the road, tore down approximately 3 trees and came to rest between a group of 3 trees growing together and one other tree. Nicole had to have a Guardian Angel riding on her shoulder Fri. nite

HAVING THE DRINKING AGE LOWERED TO 18 WOULD NOT BE A GOOD IDEA.THEY NEED TO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS UNDERAGE DRINKING!!!! I STILL THINK WE SHOULD BE A DRY STATE WE WOULDN'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THIS KIND OF STUFF.

This girl is a close friend of my daughter and has spent several nights staying with us. I would NOT let my daughter "hang out" with Nicole as IMO she was allowed too much freedom and not properly supervised. This accident just makes me believe I was right in not letting my own daughter hang out with her outside of my own home. I will say a prayer for Nicole's recovery as she is being operated on this afternoon at a Syrcause Hosp. and is in very serious conditionl

how is this driver getting served or drinking underaged and the parents are not aware of it or just ignoring the habit this child has. i am sure feelings will be hurt now and sayings will be said like, i am so sorry this happened, well this needs to be investigated to the limit and punished to the max or someone is not doing their job.

Where was she drinking? Was she at the Venue with all the other kids last night? I hope her passenger recovers and does not have any lasting effects of this accident.
