Shooting victim previously charged with attempted murder and robbery
UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - One of two teens shot in Wednesday night’s incident in East Utica, had recently been arrested twice in connection with violent crimes in the city. Utica Police say that Leshawn Thomas was charged with armed robbery earlier this month. Thomas also faces attempted murder charges related to a shooting in Cornhill in May of this year. Thomas, 17, and Zeffair Hobbs, 18, suffered gunshot wounds Wednesday night during an incident at the intersection of Jay Street and Nichols Street. Utica Police are investigating the shooting, which occurred around 10pm. The East Utica location of the Wednesday shooting is not far from a Catherine Street home where, it is alleged that, Leshawn Thomas and another man forced their way into the home at gunpoint. Police contend that Thomas and his accomplice took the homeowner’s wallet and some jewelry. Thomas was charged with robbery and burglary in that case. According to police records, Thomas was also involved in a shooting incident on Addington Place in Utica, this past May. Thomas was charged, along with Quentin Curry, of shooting Jerome Adams in the head and shoulder. Thomas was charged with attempted murder in that case. Most Popular |
