Frankfort business shows off newest piece of equipment

FRANKFORT, N.Y. (WKTV) - John Piseck, a Sales Engineer at Custom Tool and Model (CTM), says the high-tech machining industry is growing. And evidence of that is a new $100,000 machine that the Frankfort-based business recently purchased to keep up with clients' needs.

"It alleviated a lot of backup here in this work center," Piseck said.

The machine is called a "CNC Lathe," and it produces parts used for optics, aerospace, and military applications. And because it allows CTM to produce its products at a faster rate, the company now needs to expand its workforce.

Currently, CTM employs 25 people, and with the recent volume of work, Piseck says there are five new positions available.

Part of the purchase was funded by a $50,000 grant which was secured by State Senator James Seward.

"We all know that manufacturing in Upstate New York has seen tough times," Senator Sward said. "Whenever we can help not only stabilize a manufacturing business, but help a manufacturing business grow, that's a positive thing for our local economy."

Senator Seward secured an additional $25,000 grant for a "clean room" at CTM.
