A Utica business has decided to go green in order to save green

UTICA, N.Y. (AP) - In a time where the price of flour is unstable, De Iorio's Frozen Dough, on Bleecker Street, in Utica decided it was time for a change.

De Iorio's has teamed up with Mohawk Valley Applied Technology Corporation to make the transition and it was a simple move. MVATC helped De Iorio's build a catch pan located under the flour belt in the bakery. Any flour that falls off the dough is captured, sifted and reused. This process saves the company dough in more ways than one.

Prior to the green transition, De Iorio's was sending a thousand pounds of flour, that fell on the floor, to the landfill each week.
