NORWICH, N.Y. (AP) - Testimony is over in the retrial of an
upstate New York man charged with killing his wife in 2002.

A Chenango County Court jury could begin considering the fate of Peter Wlasiuk as early as Thursday afternoon after hearing closing statements.

Wlasiuk was convicted in 2003 of killing his wife, Patricia, and staging it to look like she'd crashed into a lake and drowned.

Wlasiuk was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison, but the conviction was overturned in 2006.

Among the final defense witnesses was Dr. Michael Sikiric, a forensic pathologist who said Patricia Wlasiuk's death was caused by asphyxiation by drowning and was not a homicide.

Two others pathologists testified her death was a homicide.
