County Visitors Bureau board members asked to step down

By DON SHIPMAN

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Oneida County's top brass is asking the Oneida County Convention and Visitors Bureau board members to step down, amid controversy surrounding board operations.

County Executive Anthony Picente says he want to put a new board together, so that all tourism aspects of Oneida county can be better represented.

He also feels a new board will help members work better together toward a common goal - promoting the county.

"We're going to reconstitute the board," Picente said. "We're going shrink it down. Re-evaluate. Look for a new president over the next six months."

The board president resigned last week.

Picente insists the county is not going to be running the bureau.

It will stay a not-for-profit agency.
