Steve Flesch prepares to defend Turning Stone Resort Championship title

By EVAN WHITE

VERNON, N.Y. (WKTV) - Steve Flesch returned to Central New York this week to defend his Turning Stone Resort Championship at Atunyote.

After shooting 18 under par at Atunyote last year, the Cincinnati native took home a million dollar prize and helped qualify for the 2008 Masters with that win.

He expects to play well again thanks to familiarity with the course but doesn't expect anyone to have scores as low as last year.

"I think you are going to have to put really well, the greens are perfect, you are going to have to make a lot of birdies and with the wide fairways guys are going to have a lot of birdie putts," Flesch said."

Flesch goes for his 5th tour win this weekend.

Round one starts tomorrow at 7:30 and is being broadcast on the Golf Channel.

Er, Evan... It's spelled "putt" not "put".
