Costumed "Bunny" causes commotion at Downtown Utica bank

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A man in a bunny costume caused quite a commotion in Downtown Utica Thursday afternoon when a passerby mistakenly thought the man was robbing the M&T bank, Public Safety Commissioner Daniel LaBella said.

According to police, the man, dressed in a bunny outfit for an event promotion, headed into the bank, with his kids wearing what LaBella described as "Freddy Krueger" masks waiting in the car.

LaBella said a "concerned citizen" who saw the man entering the bank, grew concerned, mistakenly thinking the man was going to commit a robbery there, and called police.

Police responded to the scene but found that no robbery was attempted, and the man was wearing the costume for an event promotion.

I think some"bunny" might be in a lot of trouble. When you go in a bank, you gotta "hop to it" and get out...no loitering allowed.

It was great that someone thought of calling the police. They very well could have been witnessing a crime in progress and would have saved many lives. The guy should have known better than to arrive at a bank with a mask on. Unless the event was at the bank and sanctioned by them...the article doesn't make that clear. Either way, diligence is the key. Keep your eyes open always.
