Police seek information on "extremely dangerous" Utica man

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Utica Police say one of their "Top Ten Most Wanted" is considered "extremely dangerous" and are seeking information as to his whereabouts.

Police say Andrew Lee Abston Jr, AKA "Drew", is 37 years old, 6' 4", weighing 270 pounds.

"Drew" currently has two warrants out for his arrest - both for different counts of criminal contempt.

Police say that the "extremely dangerous" individual once shot an off-duty Utica Police Officer in the foot in the late 1980s.

"This individual is extremely dangerous and any assistance from the Public could prove to be helpful in apprehending him," said Public Safety Commissioner Daniel LaBella.

If you have any information regarding "Drew's" whereabouts, authorities ask that you call the Utica Police Department's Warrant Unit at 315-223-3580.

All calls will be kept confidential.

This "good person" has done 3 separate bids in prison for violent crimes. I trust the judgment of our police more than yours.

this man is actually a good person if you kinew him .He would and has given the shirt off his back .I chose to make this comment because so many people make negative comments . If the world pre-judged as easy as some of you make these comments we would all be in jail .Since when do our choices become us and just where would forgiveness come in . life leaves room for mistakes people don't.

Instead of looking for and finding criminals like this, our officers are busy arresting and fineing people for non-dangerous things like walking by by the curb, and trespassing at fast track with proper id to purchase the product you asked for...they'll never find him, thier to busy trying to collect fine money...maybe he'll litter, theyll surley catch him then!!!! UPD what a JOKE!!!

They've been looking for him for a year, but all of a sudden today he's very armed and dangerous?? Are we missing something here?? Great, he didn't show up for court a year ago. So what exactly have they been doing the past year that they can't find some almost 300 pound guy in Utica.

The big question is why is he out of jail? If he shot a cop, most likely with an illegal gun, he should have been locked up for life. It's wonder why all these liberal states are in the shape there in.
