NY settles fraud case with judge's wife, brother
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo says he's reached settlements with the wife and brother of a state Court of Claims judge who were accused of inappropriately accruing pension benefits from schools. Cuomo says the two lawyers accumulated benefits as if they were school employees while actually working as outside contractors. M. Cornelia Cahill must repay $270,000 she accrued between 1998 and 2008 through the Hamilton-Fulton-Montgomery BOCES. She's the wife of Judge Richard Sise, whose court hears lawsuits against the state. Cuomo says John Sise, the judge's brother, sought placement on the same BOCES payroll to appear eligible for benefits. He must pay the state $35,000. Richard Sise wasn't implicated in the investigation. --- The following comments do not necessarily represent the views of NBC-WKTV News Channel 2.
