Schumer Tells NEWSChannel 2 He Is Against Current Power Line Proposal

U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer is pressing the New York Interconnect (NYRI) for detailed answers to questions concerning the company's proposed power line. In an interview this afternoon with NEWSChannel 2, Senator Schumer said he is against the current proposal. The proposed 200-mile, high-tower electrical power line will pass through a number of Central New York and Hudson Valley counties.

Schumer sent a letter to the president of NYRI outlining a number of questions about the proposal. Those questions include concerns about the NYRI route, potential benefits of the NYRI line, and community concerns.

Schumer is also calling on NYRI to hold a series of public meetings throughout the region.
