Madison County Board of Supervisors Chairman Rocco DiVeronica has declared portions of southern Madison County a State of Emergency.

The Mayor of the Village of Hamilton and the Georgetown Town Supervisor have also declared their municipalities a State of Emergency.

Numerous roadways in the southern most portions of the County are impassable due to water levels on the road as well as debris such as tree branches and tree stumps left in the road by swift moving flash flood waters.

Numerous roads in the Towns of Hamilton, Georgetown, Nelson, Eaton, Lebanon, and Madison are closed to traffic.

Most of the flooding at this time is confined to the southern area's of Madison County, however sporadic road flooding is occurring in northern portions of the County.

If the weather forecast is accurate, additional heavy rain is forecast. More heavy rain in the same area's will likely worsen the situation or create additional flash flood problems in the areas of the County not yet hit by the flash floods.

It is urged that people remain off the roads unless travel is an emergency.
