UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The third of 13 public statement hearings on the proposed NYRI power line was held Wednesday afternoon at MVCC.

Public Service Commission officials listened to roughly 30 people give reasons to why they don't want the proposed power line project.

The theater at MVCC was packed, full of tax payers, homeowners, farmers, and elected officials. Although each of them had a different background, they all shared the same message of opposition for the proposed power line project.

The public affairs officer for the Public Service Commission says the PSC will take each of these 13 hearings and what people have to say, very seriously before they make their decision.

What was said today, was what has been said since this project first was proposed: huge opposition. However, the difference today was the people and the committee who will make that ultimate decision on the project were the ones listening.

"We wouldn't be spending 3 weeks on the road conducting 13 public hearings, leaving a toll free opinion line open 24/7, putting a comment form on our website if we didn't take it very seriously and consider it a prime responsibility on a project like this, to get as much public input as we possibly can," said Anne Dalton of the Public Service Commission.

At least four people representing the NYRI project were in attendance. They claimed most of what was said today was misinformation.
