Students learn about the construction industry at career day

WKTV News

ORISKANY, N.Y. (WKTV) - Getting some hands-on experience and learning about the many career paths that the construction industry can offer. That was the theme behind the 5th Annual Construction Career Day.

It was held at the old Oneida county airport garage in Oriskany Thursday morning. High school students got to sample some of the many industries that construction is involved with. Those who organized the event had plenty for the students to do.

"They can operate equipment, they can lay some block, do some welding bend some some conduit and get a feel for what is entailed in the trade's daily work," said committee member Pat Costello.

More than 400 students from 14 school districts took part in the event.
