UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Board President for the Neighborhood Center in Utica, has released information as to why the Executive Director was put on paid administrative leave. The information was sent out in the form of a press release, a release the executive director herself also signed.

The two interim Executive Directors and one board member for the Neighborhood Center say they want to stress that Executive Director Virginia Barney was put on paid administrative leave for record keeping practices only, and that it has nothing to do with funds or funding.

Executive Director Virginia Barney was put on paid administrative leave on August 12th.

In a joint release by both Barney, and the board's President, an explanation as to why was laid out.

The release reads:

"During a recent audit of the Neighborhood Center, Inc., a complaint about record-keeping practices was received by the center's board president. The auditors were notified of the complaint by the center. To date, no formal findings have been issued."

Both Frank Tocco and Sandra Soroka, the two filling in for Virginia Barney, say they want to stress that none of the services provided by the center have been compromised, and everyone is still receiving the care they need while she is on administrative leave.
