Power Lines

Nate Crossett

Four area senators that make up the NYS energy committee questioned New York regional interconnect and the public service commission, two components in this power line project.

150 powerline protestors packed into the New Hartford auditorium to hear local experts speak about how these power lines are detrimental to the area.

Testimony about health risks, energy costs and NYRI's lack of a solid application has many protesters believing that the company is feeling the pressure.

Joe Bottini, “Well I think they’re starting to feel the heat, feel the pressure from allot of our demonstrations.”

Chris Rossi, “I’m hoping they are, and if there smart they will because were determined this will not go through.”

NYRI did have a chance to defend their case tonight. They stuck to their claims that people upstate will benefit from these powerlines.

Also they claim there are no adverse health risks for people living near them, and the big claim that they have not downplayed or ignored any issues residents upstate have.
