If numbers stay true to form, Arcuri would win Congressional race

(WKTV) - 230,000 people voted in Tuesdays election, in the race for the 24th Congressional district. As of Friday, 17,994 absentee ballots are out there. If those absentee ballots mirror the way each county voted Tuesday, there is a clear cut winner.

Here is an example of how we did the math: On Tuesday, Republican challenger Richard Hanna won Broome County with 54% of the vote.

As of today, Broome county has 1,052 absentee ballots back. We figured out how much 54% of those 1,052 absentee ballots are, and added that to Hanna's vote total.

Here's what we came up with.

As of Friday, out of all 11 counties in the 24th Congressional district, there are 17,994 absentee ballots returned.

Based on a percentage breakdown of how each of the 11 counties voted on Tuesday, the numbers show 9,992 absentee votes would come back for Congressman Michael Arcuri.

The numbers show Republican challenger Richard Hanna would receive 8,695 votes.
