Induction Weekend 2007

The first group of inductees into the National Baseball Hall of Fame consisted of 5 baseball players inducted in 1936.  The players were Ty Cobb, Walter Johnson, Christy Mathewson, Babe Ruth and Honus Wagner.  All five were selected by the Baseball Writers' Association of America.

The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown was not opened until June 12, 1939.  The opening commemorated the centennial anniversary of the creation of the game of baseball by Abner Doubleday in Cooperstown, NY.
