More charges pending after Wednesday manhunt
HERKIMER, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Whitesboro man who led police on a 17 hour manhunt Wednesday was finally captured and charged, and police say he was found in the same house he said to have robbed earlier that day.
Steven R. Muller, 25, is accused of forcibly stealing a vehicle and a loaded shotgun from a Higby Road residence in the Town of Frankfort around 3 a.m. on Wednesday. The vehicle was later recovered from the scene of an automobile accident at the intersection of Valley View Road and Higby Road in the Town of New Hartford. Police say Muller fled the scene of the accident before authorities arrived, and took the loaded shotgun with him. Around 4:50 p.m. Wednesday, Muller was found hiding in the basement of the same Higby Road residence in which he stole the vehicle and shotgun from. Police say he was taken into custody without incident, and the shotgun was recovered at the scene. Muller was charged with one count of second-degree robbery, and arraigned in the Town of Herkimer Court and sent to the Herkimer County Jail on $75,000 cash or $150,000 bond. State Police say the investigation is continuing and additional charges are pending. |
