UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Workers at a local company are walking the picket line, striking over what they call unfair wages.

Contracts for employees at Austin Mohawk Metal Works expired Saturday night.

At Monday's picket on Beechgrove Place, employees were carrying signs that read "Fair Wages" and "No Work Til' Demands Met."

"They feel that in the past they've settled for less than fair wages, less than cost of living wages, when the company struggled," said Harry Ehrie, of the Iron Workers Union 612. "They feel the company is doing better at this point in time and they're not looking to play catch up, but they are looking for their fair share."

Ehrie went on to say the group will stand tall, and stand together for as long as it takes.

Austin Mohawk officials said they have no comment at this time and negotiations are ongoing.
