UTICA, NY (WKTV) -  Emergency crews re-opened the 12-south on-ramp from route 790 in North Utica around 12:15am after four cars crashed on the bridge. Representatives from the Utica Police Department say they don't know what exactly caused the crash, but say the roads were iced over. The ramp remained closed for 45 minutes while crews sanded and salted the roads. Two people were rushed to the hospital due to injuries from the accident. Officials are reminding travelers to take extra time in their morning commute, as roads could continue to freeze overnight. Tune into NEWSChannel2 Daybreak and Sunrise for updated coverage.

...to hold someone responsible for not taking care of the roads. It going to be a long winter season if DOT isnt going to salt the ramps. If nobody was working that night, lets find out why. If plow drivers were working, lets find out why they didn't salt. Either way, somebody isn't doing their job. Who do we call?

I also wondered where the plows were this morning. Granted it wasnt much snow but isnt ice part of their responsibility too? I don't know about the overtime though, I cant believe anyone was working last night, seems like they would have taken care of the ice if they were. Maybe some young eager reporter should look into that very question: Why weren't the roads taken care of around Utica? I know everyone likes to blame plow drivers, but maybe theres more to it? Trucks weren't ready? No salt?

If crews were available to come salt the roads, what exactly were they doing before the accident. As the story says: "roads continue to freeze overnight" Don't the road crews know that? Probably got a nice chunk of overtime to take care of the roads AFTER the accident. Wasn't the governor looking for someplace to cut spending?
