MV Edge says no plans for replacement winner after Business Plan Award revoked

By DAVID DELLECESE

(WKTV) - Mohawk Valley Edge says that no winner will be announced in its Business Plan Competition, after the previously announced winner had their title revoked.

Mohawk Valley Edge Officials took back the the Business Competition Award they gave out in May from Nail Creek Services.

Nail Creek Services had beat out three other finalists for the prize, until Mohawk Valley Edge officials said they needed to retract it just a week later.

Edge Officials said they had received additional information that effects Nail Creek Services' qualifications for the award but, did not elaborate.

Back in May, judges had planned to review the other three finalists and announce a new winner. However, those plans have now been brought to a halt.

Edge presented Frank and Judy Vlossak in May with $10,000 cash and $10,000 worth of professional services to help Nail Creek Services get off the ground.

The company re-writes complicated instruction manuals for any and every piece of machinery under the sun.

The other finalists in that competition included Bounce Paving, RJT Products and KVA Systems.

At the time the award was revoked, Mohawk Valley Edge President, Steven DiMeo said: "We're not going to comment any further. We felt we had grounds for disqualifying the applicant."

DiMeo did say that the information that came to light that caused the disqualification did not come from any of the other finalists.

All finalists will be reimbursed for fees associated with the competition, an Edge official said.

Edge said they plan to have a press conference some time next week about the possibility of teaming up with a regional business plan competition.

I can't comment on the merits of the award, but the article itself is an example of some of the worst writing and grammar I have ever seen. Singular nouns followed by plural verbs and sophomoric sentence structure certainly "affect" the impact of this story. You can do better.

...maybe they should solicit for a business plan on how to run a competition...or they could have Nail Creek Services rewrite the manual.:)
