Woman's child sex trafficking sentencing postponed
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (AP) - Sentencing has been postponed for a 46-year-old upstate New York woman convicted of selling a 12-year-old girl to a man for sex as payment for back rent.
Linda O'Connor of Norwich and her landlord -- Dean Sacco of Jersey City, New Jersey -- were both convicted in August by a federal jury in Binghamton of sex trafficking and producing child pornography. O'Connor's sentencing in U.S. District Court was set for today but has been rescheduled for Dec. 3. Sacco's sentencing remains on the court calendar for Tuesday. Both O'Connor and Sacco plan to appeal their convictions. They contend that the girl, now 14, was a manipulator who lied to police and caseworkers. (Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press.
