County Executive: "second round of air testing comes back safe"
UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - On Friday, The Oneida County Executive's Office announced that the air sampling conducted by the Public Employee Safety and Health Bureau (PESH) this past week at the request of the United Public Service Employees Union (UPSEU) came back clean. “I am pleased that these results confirmed our findings from last week, that the County building is well below permissible levels,” Picente said. “I hope that these recent results will put to rest any concerns about the safety of the building that may have remained both with the employees and the public.” The letter received from Margo L. Leonhardt with the New York State Department of Labor, Division of Safety and Health, Public Employee Safety and Health Bureau stated: “An Industrial Hygienist from the Utica PESH office conducted air sampling for asbestos on several floors of the Oneida County Office Building on November 13, 2008. All air samples came back well below the PEL (Permissible Exposure Limit). These findings were presented to the County Executive’s Office and the Union on Friday. |
