Is it a good time to refinance your mortgage?

(WKTV) - If you are in the market to buy a home, it is a really good time, but if you are selling, it is not so good.

But how about re-financing your mortgage?

New Hartford realtor Anthony Fumarola says rates have been holding steady for the most part, but if you do see a lower interest rate advertised, you may not get it, it all depends on your credit.

"What's happened in the lending industry is that the qualifications have become a little stricter, and in some cases a lot, so they're able to pick and choose," Fumarola said. "The better your credit, the better your debt to income ratio, and the better rate you're going to get."

Fumarola says if you are looking to re-finance, you need to come down more than one percentage point, better yet, two, in order to make it worth it.
