NYS Association of Chiefs of Police award Thomas Lindsey posthumous medal of honor

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Honoring a fallen hero. The New York State Association of Chiefs of Police awarded their prestigious medal of honor to five police officers Wednesday at Mohawk Valley Community College, and one of the recipients was the late Officer Thomas Lindsey.

Officers from Saratoga Springs, Baldwinsville, Bolivar, and the Onondaga County Sheriff's Department were also honored.

John Grebert, the executive director of the association says it's important to remember the sacrifices made in the name of serving and protecting.

"We know we're never going to be able to stop the death of police officers in the line of duty, but we never want people to think their sacrifices are any less meaningful," Grebert said.

Grebert says these awards recognize the "best of the best" in law enforcement.
